YAY! So today I went to the Land O' Lakes Luncheon at Texas A&M. It was like an informational on potential internship opportunities. I had talk to some recruiters earlier in the year during October, here at A&M and in Indianapolis at the Nat'l FFA Convention Collegiate Career Expo. And I know I'm a little young to be applying to internships, but I was told it was never too early to start looking.
So I went to some career days, and some internship opportunities I was interested in was for Land O' Lakes Purina Feed, Cargill, HEB, Monsanto, and even Kroger. These internships looked pretty cool so I thought I would talk to them a little, give them my resume, and just learn about what I can do for them. Well most of the companies I talked to were looking for Junior and Seniors in college, so I told them (the honest person I am) that I was a freshman, most of them were shocked and told me that they were impressed. They said I was ambitious and very well put together for a freshman. I was excited and a little proud, I got to admit.
I made relationship with big corporate companies early in my college life. Dr. Fuller, who works for LOL/Purina, told me today that he was very proud of me and would be keeping an eye out for me. ME? an 18 yr old freshman, made an impression on a person who could be my potential boss in the future.
I believe I have FFA to thank for this. The FFA has made me the honest, business professional young entrepreneur that I am. Our leadership development coordinator, Blaze Currie, told us that we need to be taking advantage of the opportunities and relationships we can be building right now. I have learned from it, and I plan to help other members take advantage of their opportunities right now.
What do you really want to do in life? SPEAK UP! Go find that dream right now, and learn about what more you can do for them. You never know what kind of impression you can make on a person.
I am so excited about the relationships I have made with so many other people. I want to do so many things right now, and I know how to start. "Poco a poco, se anda legos." (Little by little, you walk a long way.)
We should take a jump start if possible, and learn to take it slow. Because if you want to finish everything so fast, you never have the time to enjoy life.
You can plant a seed now, so later you can have a garden, but don't forget to smell the roses.
